This is one of the best treks in the Cordillera Blanca and has a variety of views of the mountains and wildlife. We will see mountains over 6000m in height. Mountains we will see include the Artezonraju, Caraz Auja, Quitaraju, Alpamayo, Taulliraju. Hacraraju, Chopicalqui, Ulta and others.
Itinerary
We begin our walk in the valley of Santa Cruz seeing the variety of vegetation and wildlife there including the condor.
This is an easier day in which we see the landscapes of mountains and ascend to the viewpoint of Alpamayo and Quitaraju.
We ascend slowly towards the pass where we take a break for 30 minutes to take pictures of the mountains and to find Rededor.Taulliraju, Artezonraju, Pucajirca Pariah, and others.
We pass through little towns like Huaripanpa, Colcabanba, and Chalhua to see the daily life of people living in the Andes.
As we ascend we see the vegetation and wildlife of the park and then we make our way to Huascaran´s snow covered landscape.
This is the last day of the trek and we reach the highest point of Yanayacu (4850m.snm). Then we descend to the bus station to return to Huaraz.
