Mini huayhuash

We leave with transportation from Huaraz to Ciudad de Chiquian (3,400) later to Llamac, Pocpa, Cuartelhuain (3,900). Where the donkeys and muleteers are waiting for us to begin the walk, the next day from this camp we will be observing the first snow-capped mountains such as Ninashanca. On the way with the transport we will pass through picturesque towns such as: LLamac, Pocpa, Paclla, Arrival at the Cuartelhuain camp.

You pass the first pass of Cacananpunta (4700). Some snow-capped mountains can be seen such as Ninashanca, Rondoy, the Lagunas such as Pucacocha, Yanacocha Chico and Grande. Then we will observe the snow-capped mountains of Rondoy and Hirishancay and continuing the walk we will be passing the second pass of Punta Carhuac (4650). Descent through the ravine arriving at our camp in Carhuacocha. Panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains Jirishanca, Yerupaja, Toro, etc.

Walk of 6 – 7 hours. The third step of Carnicero (4600) is passed. Descent through the middle of the Atocshaico and Carnicero Lagoons. We observe the Siula, Jural, Carnicero and Trapecio snow-capped mountains arriving at the Huayhuash camp.

Walk 5 to 6 hours. The fourth pass of Portachuelo (4750) is passed. You can see the snow-capped mountains of Puscanturpa, Cuyoc, Millpo, and part of the Raura Mountain Range. Arrival at our camp in Viconga (4300). Afternoon to take advantage of a bath in the hot springs of Atuscancha (4000).

Walk 7 – 8 hours. We will leave the Viconga camp and head to Cajatambo, this hike is generally descending, and later we arrive at the town of Cajatambo where in the afternoon we will spend the night in a one-star hostel.

This day we will take the vehicle that will transport us from Cajatambo – Barranca and later another vehicle in Barranca to Lima
